City/State: La Borrera, Honduras
Owner: La Borrera Community
Type: 167-foot wood and steel suspension bridge
In 2008, Palisade Builders set a goal to raise $80,000 matching half the donations with our own funds, to build the first suspension bridge in Honduras! We were passionate about building this bridge as a way to positively impact the lives of the community by enabling safe passage across the Grand Liure River. Without the bridge, commerce, education and basic daily tasks were almost impossible to achieve for the local community. This 167-foot suspension bridge was made with 2 wood towers on each side of the river, wood deck and under truss held together with steel suspension cables anchored into concrete footings.
